Swimming Pool Is Over

Tashu is a certified water baby!

We had taken Tashu to dip in the Holy Ganges for the first time. While we were visiting one of the Ghats - Triveni Ghat, we could visibly see Tashu's excitement to see a huge flowing river in front of her. She could go down the steps, as far as she dared, holding onto a railing and then come running back up the Ghat! She is a scaredy cat still, so she dare not go beyond 4 steps (I could feel 6 before my scaredy cat came out!).

Before this she had only been to the tranquil ocean in Puducherry (once), the serene sea in Goa (once) or the harmless swimming pool in our society or hotels (ample number of times). And often she is the one who comes out last after the Lifeguard on duty warns her to go back. Her innocent question often is "Mumma, is swimming pool over?" which in her language means - "Are the timings for the pool over?"

When I saw that she was drenched in Ganga water and had started shivering a bit (Ganga is cold even in June end!)....

Me: Tashu, come back! Time to go.

Tashu: Mumma, swimming pool is over?

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Me (trying not to laugh & failing): This is the Ganga, Tashu. Not a swimming pool!

There was a lady with two teenage girls (her daughters, I presume) sitting on the Ghat. All three started laughing at this description of the Holy Ganges by an almost 5 year old!πŸ™ˆ
